This one, from the Rudraksha Pendants edit, is a 10-mukhi bead, linked in the old texts to Vishnu. Worn close, it's meant as a small daily practice — aligned with the cosmos, rooted in the earth. Store it flat and away from other hard jewelry so it does not pick up scratches while not in use. It travels well and needs no special handling beyond the basics above.

Read by hand: we count the 10 mukhi (faces) on the bead ourselves — there is no external document behind that reading.
The Padma Purana account (via Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham) assigns the ten-faced bead to Maha Vishnu, specifically invoking his ten avataras (Dasavatara), with a devotional mantra to Narayana. Unlike most other mukhis, sources do not agree on a single ruling navagraha planet for this bead: some charts list none, others describe it as balancing or governing all nine planets together. Per Britannica, Vishnu is one of Hinduism's principal deities, known as the Preserver within the Trimurti alongside Brahma the creator and Shiva the destroyer. Described here as tradition, not as a guaranteed effect.
Seed of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, worn as a prayer bead across Hindu and Buddhist tradition. Natural beads vary in colour and grain and may deepen with wear — a mark of a real bead, not a fault.
The pendant form's conceptual template is old: medieval reliquary pendants were made to hold fragments of saints' relics, establishing the idea of a precious, meaningful object worn close to the body at chest level. By the 16th century, portrait miniatures migrated into jewelry as secular pendant lockets, and by the Victorian era pendants and lockets had become a primary vehicle for sentiment, memory, and mourning in the West. Open to any devotee regardless of age or gender; choice of deity or symbol is generally personal (Ishta Devata) rather than restricted by tradition.
Keep away from water, perfume and harsh chemicals. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store flat, away from direct sunlight. Rudraksha and other natural beads may deepen in tone with wear — this is expected, and part of how a piece becomes yours.
