Picked for the Rudraksha Pendants line, this piece is a 9-mukhi bead, linked in the classical texts to Durga and the planet Ketu. Wipe it clean by hand and store it away from moisture; natural beads may darken slightly with wear, which is expected. Held in the hand or worn through the day, it's meant to be used, not kept for display. Over weeks of wear, a piece like this tends to settle in rather than stand out, which is the idea.

Read by hand: we count the 9 mukhi (faces) on the bead ourselves — there is no external document behind that reading.
The Padma Purana account (via Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham) assigns the nine-faced bead to Durga, ruled by Ketu, with the mantra Om Hreem Hum Namah. Independent astrology and rudraksha reference charts consistently repeat this Durga–Ketu pairing, and the number nine also echoes Durga's Navadurga (nine-form) worship. Per Britannica, Durga is a principal form of the supreme Goddess — Devi, Shakti — in Hinduism, embodying both the singular universal Mahadevi and one of her most important individual forms. Described here as tradition, not as a guaranteed effect.
Seed of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree, worn as a prayer bead across Hindu and Buddhist tradition. Natural beads vary in colour and grain and may deepen with wear — a mark of a real bead, not a fault.
The pendant form's conceptual template is old: medieval reliquary pendants were made to hold fragments of saints' relics, establishing the idea of a precious, meaningful object worn close to the body at chest level. By the 16th century, portrait miniatures migrated into jewelry as secular pendant lockets, and by the Victorian era pendants and lockets had become a primary vehicle for sentiment, memory, and mourning in the West. Open to any devotee regardless of age or gender; choice of deity or symbol is generally personal (Ishta Devata) rather than restricted by tradition.
Keep away from water, perfume and harsh chemicals. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store flat, away from direct sunlight. Rudraksha and other natural beads may deepen in tone with wear — this is expected, and part of how a piece becomes yours.
